Why NOT to use mail order:

-Mail order facilities are often outside your community, many times in a different state. When you use mail order to save a few dollars you are supporting someone else’s community while your local town loses out on important revenue and your state loses out on taxable income.

-Mail order facilities often will automatically refill and send a three month supply of medicine even if you do NOT need it yet. This causes the plan sponsor (sometimes the taxpayer) to be billed more frequently than needed and contribute to the ever increasing cost of healthcare. This means either the taxpayer or your company will foot the bill. If your plan sponsor is a local government affiliate then, YOU will ultimately pay the price.1,2

-You will NOT create a relationship with your neighborhood pharmacist which is often important in understanding the correct way to take medications and preventing medication errors.3

-Some popular mail order companies are under investigation by the FTC and several States’ Attorney Generals offices looking at business practices that allegedly compromise patient privacy and alleged anti-trust behavior.
